So, I tried to write about these things twice before, and lost both attempts for which I justly blame God. Anyhow, I went to Alaska directly after I graduated from Gutenberg and set nets with a family of giants, a miracle mechaniker, a celtic singer of Cash, and the monk. It was good to be off the grid, away from the well lit and watered cushions of civilization. Worked ninty to a hundred hours a week on the tossing river's mouth, rattled around in a 23' aluminum Raider skiff. Learned to mend, hang, stack and clear nets, to keep the cook as happy as possible. I was particularly happy to see a community of people hanging on that was not based in religion, but by the common struggles of fishing on the Nushagak. I plan on going again this summer.
Accidentally deleted a whole bunch.
